Answered By Editor While there are some real gems of beaches in North Shore, some are particularly suited for families and children. Here are some suggestions: Tahoe City - Commons Beach and U.S. Coast Guard Beach In the heart of Tahoe City, Commons Beach has parking behind the fire station. Amenities include bathrooms, a playground, picnic table, summer weekly concerts, movies and shallow water for wading. U.S. Coast Guard Beach & Campground is located just to the West of the U.S. Coast Guard boat launch and includes picnic tables, grills, baseball fields, kids playground and camping areas. Enter through the Coast Guard drive off of Lake Forest Rd. West Shore - Chambers Landing Beach Chambers Landing Beach is located about nine miles south of Tahoe City on Hwy 89 and is a flat, sandy beach adjacent to Chambers Landing Restaurant and Dock Bar. Kings Beach - Kings Beach Recreation Area Kings Beach Recreation Area is located in the heart of Kings Beach off of Hwy 28 and features basketball and volleyball courts.
